Lake Kussharo Area is a perfect destination for nature lovers. There are many nature activities available, mainly on the East side of the lake. From there, a 30-min drive takes you to Lake Mashu, the clearest lake in the world with its beautiful deep blue color.

How to Get There

JR Mashu Station and Kawayu Onsen Station are located between the two lakes. You can take buses from these stations to tourist attractions, such as Mount Io, sand hot spring (Sunayu), natural outdoor hot spring, and Lake Mashu view point.

Best time to visit

Summertime between June and September is best to enjoy the nature around Lake Kussharo and Lake Mashu.
