SHIRETOKO Travel Guide

Shiretoko is a peninsula located in Eastern Hokkaido, blessed with its spectacular nature. Shiretoko National Park covers two-thirds of the peninsula, offering many fun activities. This is a perfect destination for outdoor lovers.

  • How to Get There

Fly into Memambetsu Airport. From there, you can either drive a rental car or take a bus for 2 hours to Utoro, which is a center of Shiretoko attractions. There is also a bus from JR Shari Station.

  • Best time to visit

Summer (June to October) would be best to fully enjoy Shiretoko’s nature. If you want to see Drift Ice (Ryuhyo), visit there in February and March.
