Sekka Shiretoko: A Family-Run Hotel with Warm Hospitality

Looking for a cozy accommodation where you feel connected with a warm-hearted owner? Then Sekka Shiretoko is a perfect place to stay for you.

Hi I’m Yuuka from Eastern Hokkaido, and Shiretoko is one of my favorite places in the region. I’ve stayed at a few hotels in Shiretoko, but is Sekka Shiretoko offers a completely different, more personal experiecne.

If you’re traveling as a couple or a family and don’t want to stay at a conventional resort hotel, I’d highly recommend this charming hotel run by Souko-san. She’s such a friendly, caring person who will make you feel like you’re staying at your auntie’s place.

From natural onsen baths to delicious home-cooked meals, here’s a look at why Sekka Shiretoko feels like a home away from home.

Onsen: Small natural hot spring that feels private

Indoor onsen bath at Sekka Shiretoko, featuring natural hot spring water surrounded by tiled walls and a stone feature, offering a tranquil and therapeutic soaking experience.

What I really like about Sekka Shiretoko is the 100% natural flowing hot spring. The water was so silky smooth that I immediately felt the difference on my skin. I didn’t even need lotion on my face afterwards, because it was so moisturizing!

The bath itself is rather small, but I didn’t mind it as it gave a private feel. Since Sekka Shiretoko is a small accomodation with just 5 guest rooms, it’s possible that you’ll have a whole bath to yourself depending on the timing.

I really enjoyed it with my todder son and liked that I didn’t have to bother other people while he was having fun in the water!

This onsen is also tattoo-friendly.
